Equality and Diversity Policy
The Joint Surgical Committee Meeting’s Equality and Diversity policy has been developed for the United Kingdom and Ireland Surgical Royal Colleges (the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSGlas) and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) (The Colleges). The Colleges work together on matters relating to standards and assessment, through a number of intercollegiate committees including the Intercollegiate Committee for Basic Surgical Examinations.
It is the aim of The Committees to ensure that, where it falls within their sphere of influence, no interested party receives less favourable facilities or treatment (either directly or indirectly) in recruitment, employment, assessment or examination on grounds of age, disability, gender / gender reassignment, marriage / civil partnership, pregnancy / maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation. Amendment to DO-HNS Regulations
With effect from the November 2013 diet, and in accordance with guidance issued by the United Kingdom General Medical Council, and the decision of the ICBSE, candidates will no longer have unlimited attempts at Part 1 and Part 2 of the DO-HNS examination. The regulations have been amended and a new clause added (1.6), which limits candidates to 6 attempts for Part 1 and 4 attempts for Part 2.
DOHNS Part 2 Results
Because of the Bank Holiday in Edinburgh in May the results of the next DOHNS Part 2 exam will be posted on the College websites by 12 noon on 21st May 2013 (not 20th as previously notified).
The GMC has agreed that doctors who are already in specialty training, or who enter specialty training by 31 October 2013 will be able to have any valid passes in previously approved national professional examinations counted towards a CCT, even if they were obtained outside approved training.
