Guidance to candidates intending to travel internationally for MRCS Part A during COVID-19 pandemic
The MRCS Part A is offered in over 30 countries worldwide outside of the United Kingdom and Ireland. It is known that candidates sometimes travel outside of their home country to take the MRCS exam.
At this time, the four Surgical Royal Colleges of the United Kingdom and in Ireland are reminding any candidates who are thinking of travelling internationally to take the MRCS to make sure they are aware of local quarantine and isolation regulations, both for the country to which they are travelling and for when returning home. Candidates are reminded that there is a chance that an exam may be postponed at short notice at specific locations if local guidelines change, and that this is beyond the control of the four Surgical Royal Colleges.
Candidates are advised to investigate where the nearest MRCS Part A exam centre is to them, and make any decisions about travelling internationally for the exam carefully. The details of the locations at which each of the four Surgical Royal Colleges offer MRCS Part A exam centres are available through each of their websites, as below:
The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh
The Royal College of Surgeons of England
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow
